THE Makis Voridis responds strongly to the hints of the former president of OPEKEPE, Gregory Varra, referring to “supposedly illegal” and “another theoretical construction without real background”.
In his post, the former Minister of Rural Development and Food asks Details, testimonies, conversations or documents that confirm what Mr Varras supported in his testimony before the House Inquiry Committee.
“No reference – a theoretical construction without background”
“From the testimony of Mr Varra, we heard today that it was at the request of Neuropublic, Mr. Dimitris Mela and Piraeus Bank. But one wonders: What elements support this claim? Is there any testimony, conversation or document to confirm it? No mention. Another theoretical construction, with no real background, “Mr Voridis noted.
He added that no One of the persons mentioned by Mr Varras has ever asked for his removal. “If he really wanted to be honest, he would mention the real reason why I asked him for his resignation. We met and chatted extensively. Don’t remember what I told him? ” Mr. Voridis wondered.
“What are the illegals?”
Responding to Mr Varra’s allegations that it was dismissed “not to disclose illegalities”, the former minister countered:
“I wonder: what illegalities? The technical solution he himself applied? The checks for which he testified that he had not informed me? Or the announcement of the technical adviser conducted on Theophanes Pappas, was offended by Neuropublic and was eventually found to be legal by justice? Are these, the “revelations” to which it is mentioned? “
“How can the implementation of a ministerial decision be considered illegal?”
Mr. Voridis insists that There was never illegalitynoting that the technical solution implemented was based on a ministerial decision.
“Mr. Varra himself confessed that he applied the same technical solution to the temporary payment of 2020. My application is considered illegal, while his own legal? This is obviously a reasonable contradiction, “he said.
For ‘observations’ on the notice
Referring to the observations submitted to the text of the notice for the technical adviser, the former Minister replied:
“If the supervisor minister, in the context of his responsibilities, makes legal observations and exerts supervision, is this – according to Mr Vrara – a breach of duty? If you do not supervise and become wrong, you are guilty; if you supervise, guilty again. That logic just doesn’t stand. “
The 466 million euros ‘allegedly lost’
Makis Voridis also referred to the allegations of “lost” 466 million euros, clarifying that these amounts came from canceled fines against Greece by the European Court of Justice.
“The € 466 million concerned two rulings by the European Court of Justice that annulled fines. Mr Varras argued that these amounts could be “converted” into acres of pasture. In exactly what way? How do court rulings be converted to fines into land? ” Mr. Voridis wonders.
According to him, money was not lostBut “they were offset by other debts and remained 170 million euros, which were later deposited in the state account, for the benefit of Greek taxpayers”.
