Record for organ donation – they gave life to 240 people

A record of transplants by deceased donors was marked in Greece this year, after On October 6, the 11th donor was taken from the 111st donor. So it reached 10 months last year’s record, which is sure to be overcome by the end of the year.

More than one and a half million citizens have received an informational message through the implementation of HIDA, on the process of registering with the National Donor Register. In the coming days, the shipment is expected to be completed, making this action as the most massive information on the donation of tissues and organs ever carried out in Greece.

In Greece the celebration of ‘European Day Donation Day

Celebrations for this year’s “European Day of Organ, Tissues and Cells Donation” will focus on Greece, and in particular Kalamata, with a central message “Organ Donation, More Life”, actions will be performed throughout the country, but also throughout Europe, with the aim of raising awareness.

In Greece, among other events, there will be green lighting (the color that symbolizes transplantation), emblematic buildings and constructions throughout Greece, such as Kallimarmaro, the Hellenic Parliament, the Omonia Fountain, the White Tower of Thessaloniki, Onassis, Onassis Hospital et al.
