Today, October 7, 2025, two years have passed since its deadly attack Hamas to Israel – A day that changed the Middle East forever. At that dawn, the sound of sirens and explosions broke the silence of Saturday and sank a whole country into chaos. It was the beginning of a war that continues to this day, with thousands of dead, millions of displaced and a vicious circle of revenge that seems to have no end.
Two years after Hamas’ unprecedented attack on Israel, wounds – physical and mental – remain open. The families of the victims of the Supernova Festival, the hostages that have never returned, and the civilians who suffer in Gaza compose the human face of a conflict that does not say to cut.
It was early in the morning of October 7, 2023 when Hamas invaded southern Israel, sowing terror and death. In just a few hours, Over 1,200 people – men, women and children – have been slaughtered.
Among them hundreds of young men who had fun at Supernova Festivala celebration of music and peace turned into a horror scene. The terrorists of the Palestinian organization grabbed more than 250 hostages, captured videos of the attacks and carried out all kinds of atrocities.
That day, which Israel characterized “On September 11th”it was the beginning of a war raging ruthless to this day. War operations spread beyond the gauze – in Syriato Lebanonin Iran and at Yemen – With immediate US involvement and balances in the Middle East change dramatically.
The Gaza Strip was almost leveled. Almost all of its population was displaced, and the residents (who survived) starve. The Palestinians count over 66,000 dead and 170,000 injured, while most of the organizers of the October 7 attack have been killed. The voices that Israel commits genocide are increasing …
Two years later, the memory of that day remains alive and leaves a sad depository.
The time
7 October, 6:30 in the morning. Sirens sound in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, warning of an impending attack. Hamas unleashes thousands of rockets and unexpectedly invades Israeli territory, killing citizens and soldiers, kidnapping dozens of people, burning houses and vehicles.
The Israel, has literally caught in sleepslowly realizes the size of the attack.
The Supernova Festival, near the border with Gaza, gathered about 4,000 new people. The night was calm, until around 7am the music was entangled with eruptions. The skies were filled with black dots – Hamas paratroopers who landed on the ground.
What followed was a slaughter.

The gunmen opened fire indiscriminately. Many were trying to escape, others were hiding behind trees or under cars, while dozens of the dead to escape.
The videos that came to light a few hours later revealed scenes of panic, people running in dust and tobacco, voices of despair, and a place that turned into hell.
More than 360 people were killed, dozens were abducted and hundreds were injured. It was one of the most bloody attacks on Israel’s history.
OR Sir, Then 25, who had traveled with friends from Tel Aviv, recalls: “Suddenly we heard sirens and shots. Everyone started running. Some were falling, others were shouting. I didn’t know where to go – just that I had to leave. “
The survivors of that day still carry her wounds.
“Every time I hear fireworks, I freeze. I can’t forget, “she says. “But I want to believe that one will once stop this cycle of hate.”
The day that changed the Middle East
The October 7th attack was not just a terrorist act. It was the spark that lit one of the most bloody wars of the last decades. Israel responded with severe bombings in Gaza, declaring an totalitarian war in Hamas.

Two years later, US president Donald Trump presented a 20 -point plan For a ceasefire and rebuilding of Gaza, with Benjamin Netanyahu on his side. Indirect negotiations between its delegations – weakened Plus-Hamas and the internationally isolated Israel began in Egypt to discuss a ceasefire in Gaza with talks on the exchange of hostage and Palestinian prisoners.
Developments in Gaza have drastically changed the Middle Eastern map: the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, the blows to the Iranian nuclear program and the isolation of Israel on the international scene make up a new, uncertain landscape.
Former Israeli ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, is now more optimistic:
«After two of the most difficult years in our history, I see opportunities for peace in the geopolitical rearrangements. “
But even Netanyahu admits that it is not clear whether the next phase will bring calm or a new eruption of violence.
The wound of 7 October
Like September 11th for the United States, October 7th has been engraved in the collective memory of Israel and Palestine. Two years later, the area has not returned to regularity.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, over 66,000 people have been killed, almost half Women and children. Humanitarian organizations are warning of upcoming famine. They are increasingly using the term genocide to describe what Israel does in Gaza. About two million residents have been displaced, many of them more than once.

Satellite images show entire districts leveled, UN report concluded that one in three residents spent days without food. Netanyahu denies the accusation of “political starvation”, accusing Hamas of diverting humanitarian aid.
But even US officials accuse Israel of using hunger as a “war weapon”.
Israel’s international isolation
The Israeli strategy has even caused tension even with traditional allies. France, Britain, Canada and Australia recognized the Palestinian state, while dozens of diplomats left Netanyahu’s speech to the UN.
Already, 151 UN member states since 193 have recognized Palestine. Among them is Russia, almost all of the Arab world, the vast majority of Africa and Latin America, but also Asian forces such as India and China. Algeria was the first country to recognize the Palestinian state in November 1988, shortly after the proclamation of historical Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
At the same time, the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for the Israeli prime minister for potential war crimes, which has further isolated him on the international stage.
By them 251 hostages of 7 October 2023most have been released or their bodies have been returned. About 20 remain alive in captivity, while another 25 are considered dead, without their families having received the corpses.
Two years later, the wound of October 7 remains open. People in Gaza continue to fight for their survival, hostage families live with the agony of waiting, and peace still seems far away.
Shira, the young man who survived the Supernova Festival, summarizes it in a few words:
«That day never ended. Only I hope that once someone will stop this blood cycle».
