The 23rd Vexillum – Giuseppe Sciacca International Awards Ceremony in the Vatican International Awards

Fondazione Vexillum organized the 23rd VEXILLUM – GIUSEPE SCIACCA “, dedicated to the memory of Giuseppe Siakka, a young man who passed away prematurely, leaving his Christian and morals.

The ceremony took place on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Palazzo Della Cancelleria, in this only Vatican art building, in the presence of ecclesiastical, political and diplomatic authorities.

The inaugural speech was made by Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, Honorary Honor of the Vexillum Foundation…

Awards

Scientific research award
• Hanne Biesmans (Belgium/Sweden): Researcher at the University of Linking, a pioneer in the use of “soft and injectable electrodes”, which open new horizons for safer and more effective neurological therapies.
The award was given by General Gioacchino Angeloni.

• LEMANA SPAHIC (Bosnia – Herzegovina): It was distinguished for the application of Drug Coated Balloons in the treatment of peripheral vessels atherosclerosis and for its doctoral work in the use of artificial intelligence in fetal ultrasound, based on the Test.
The prize was awarded by Professor Katerina Nikos.

• Marianna Kaisetaki (Greece): Neuroscientist and internationally recognized pianist, was honored for her innovative research in memory after stroke, eating disorders in musicians and neuropsychology of identifying persons.
The award was given by President Dr. Giampiero Biele.

• Paul Fey (Germany): Organist, composer and digital artist, with 22 published collections of works for operational use and international careers at European festivals.
The award was awarded by SA. Princess Giatsina Roussoli.

Special awards of the jury
• Professor Ivica Smojver (Croatia): For his research on the mechanical safety of aircraft using self-sustaining materials that mimic natural healing.
The award was awarded by General Gerado Restaino.

• Professor of Oncology Pierfrancesco Tassone (Italy): for the development of new blood cancer strategies, with monoclonal antibodies and microorn -based treatments.
The prize was awarded by General and Medical Professor Angelo Giustini.

• Lieutenant Colonel Davide Verdolini (Italy): For his decisive contribution to the humanitarian company “Solidarity Path Operation 2” in Gaza, with the distribution of 100 tonnes of food. The award was awarded by General Alberto Biavati, Aviation Commander.

• Father Mario Pesce SJ (1917–2006): Ad Memoriam honored for his founding contribution to the Gruppo India charity, following his collaboration with Mother Teresa.
The award was given by Dr. George Bizas, co -founder and president of Flexcar and Flexauto, and was received by Dr. Marco Petrini.

San José Sanchez del Rio Martire Culture Award
• Cardinal Angelo Comastri: He was awarded for his rich pastoral and theological course, but also for his writing work that bridged faith and culture.
The award was given by President Sergio Santoro, SA Princess Donna Maria Pia Ruspoli. The official ring of the institution, a work of the House, was handed over by the Secretary General of the Institution Vasiliki (Vicky) Bafatakis.

• Lorelai Alberta Mosnegutu (Romania): Young artist with disabilities, who writes, paints and plays piano on foot. She impressed the international audience with her voice and the power of her soul, winning the first place in the television program “Romanians have talent”. Its award is a symbol of overrun, inspiration and optimism for the younger generation.
The award was awarded by Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, in the presence of Romanian Ambassador to St. George Bologan and Professor Basilica (Vicky) Bafatakis, Secretary General of the Prize.
