The trilateral meeting between the Secretary -General of the United Nations was completed on Saturday afternoon 27.09.2025 Antonio Guterres With the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar at the UN headquarters in New York.
Nikos Christodoulides in his statements seemed to be satisfied with what he heard from Antonio Guterres, and in particular his commitment to the Cyprus issue and his determination to pass the whole effort in a new phase with talks. He also appeared with the fact that the reboot point will be from where they were interrupted in Kran Montana in 2017.
In his initial position, he thanked the Secretary -General for what he said and said that “he knows that, because of the elections in the occupied, there would be no development” while stressing that he would not stop the effort.
According to sigmalive.com, Nikos Christodoulidis said the expanded meeting would take place before the end of the year.
He also noted that Ersin Tatar had an aggressive tone in relation to the actions of the Republic of Cyprus with the President of Cyprus reiterating that “there is no alternative to the Cyprus issue”.
Finally, he emphasized that it is important that Mr Guterres is taking action in the midst of two wars.
