Position for scenarios of establishing a new party by Alexis Tsipras took the Paul Polakis, stressing that this would not be a “return” of the former prime minister, but a change of course and a substantial disagreement with the SYRIZA programmatic positions.
In an interview with Libre.gr, the MP emphasized that the prolonged ambiguity about Mr Tsipras’ intentions is burdened and called on the former party president to publicly clarify his stance.
“To my knowledge, Alexis is a historical official of SYRIZA, the only president of the party who served as prime minister and is currently an active MP. Consequently, I do not understand what is understood by talking about a return. If you consider the creation of a new party by Alexis Return, let me tell you that I do not agree, “Mr Polakis said.
He added that the creation of a new political entity would be in a rupture: “The creation of a new party first and foremost means a change of course and not a return … The creation of a new party, legally means disagreement in our programming positions.”
At the same time, he warned that the ambiguity about the issue “does not do good to anyone and certainly does not do good in our area”, while calling on Mr Tsipras to clarify his position: “If Alexis is really interested in forming a majority progressive alliance. In my opinion, therefore, we should not talk about a return but about the disclosure of intentions. “
