Chaos prevailed on the weekend (20-21.09.2025) in fairly large European airports: Endless queues, cancellations and serious delays touched thousands of passengers after cyberattack which paralyzed the automatic registration systems managed by Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of the RTX Group.
On Friday, hackers targeted the company by cyberattackcausing serious malfunctions at Heathrow Airports in London, Berlin and Brussels. Heathrow, Europe’s busiest airport, was particularly influenced.
Although authorities assure that the situation has greatly improved on Sunday in Berlin and London, delays and cancellations continued, especially in Belgium. Brussels even demanded the cancellation of 50% of the flights scheduled for Monday.
In a statement issued on Monday morning, Collins Aerospace said it was working closely with its customers and airports affected. The company emphasized that it is in the final stages of the necessary upgrades to complete the operation of the systems.
There is still no clear indication of who can be hidden behind this cyberattack.
