On Saturday night (20.09.2025), Intervision, “New” Eurovision to Russia“Returned” with the glamor of a large international competition. In Moscow, 23 countries competed in front of an international jury, offering the public a spectacular spectacle. Vietnam was the winner with singer Duc Phuc, with 422 points, leaving behind Kyrgyzstan and Qatar.
Intervision, created at the time of the Soviet Union and revived this year by decision by Vladimir Putin after Russia’s exclusion from Eurovision, gathered 23 countries – between China, India and Brazil – and, according to the organizers, attracted more than 4 billion.
The evening ended with a symbolic picture: all the finalists went up on stage singing “A Million Voices”, a flagship song by Polina Gagarina, in an atmosphere of unity that the Russian organizers have strongly promoted.

Vietnam’s performance officially becomes this year champion of Intervision 2025, which featured the rise of Global South leadership from BRICS, CIS, Latin America to the Middle East.

However, the competition was struck by the retirement by Vassy (Vassiliki Karagiorgos), Greek Australian From Darwin and known to the US for its electro successes.
Although he was about to represent the US, he left Moscow at the last minute, saying he was “in shock”. According to ABC Australia, Russian organizers accuse Australia of “unprecedented political pressure” against the singer.
The Australian government denied any involvement, but reminded that by 2022 it had imposed sanctions on the Russian Russian Bank VTB, a key sponsor of the competition.
Intervision is presented by the Kremlin as a cultural showcase, with an emphasis on “traditional family values”. Vladimir Putin opened the final with a video message, wishing “good luck” to the contestants. The competition, already considered a diplomacy tool, will continue in 2026 in Saudi Arabia.
