The helicopter raised a technical issue, and the pilots decided to land it at a local airport “for precautionary reasons”, White House spokesman Caroline Levit told reporters.
Trump and Melania were then safely boarded a backup helicopter and continued their journey to Stanstend. No injuries were reported.
