According to the Municipality of Athens, for tomorrow Friday (19/9/2025), the closure of 9 stores (CYEs) is scheduled for 4 to 10 days, due to the use of the use of a communal space or even the use of a communal space without permission. Another 14 seals will take place next week.
Out of 9 stores, which will be sealed tomorrow, 4 are in the historical triangle (Aeolou, Ermou, Agia Irini Square, Metropolis), the 2 in Kolonakithe 2 in Thissio and 1 in Monastiraki. In total by the beginning of the year they have been signed 116 seals.
The Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas said there would be no tolerance for such violations: “We will continue to put a padlock in the shops that are trampling public space. Athens belongs to all citizens and not to these few, who think they can escape the consequences through windows. Roads, sidewalks, pedestrian streets and squares are not “bank seats for rent”. The rules apply to everyone. Our tolerance to illegality was and will be zero. We protect accessibility throughout the city. “
