GSEE: 24 -hour strike on October 1

The recommendation of the Executive Committee for the declaration of 24 -hour Pan -Hellenic strike on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, was unanimously accepted by the Plenary of the General Confederation of Workers of Greece (GSEE).

As stated in a related announcement, the main demands of the strike are:

“The withdrawal of the unacceptable beam of measures to settle the working time in the forthcoming draft law of the Ministry responsible for the establishment of the 13 -hour and the same employer, which comes as a continuation of a series of legislation that primarily burden the most vulnerable workers.

  • The reduction of hours now, with the application of 37.5 hours a week, as already applied with great success in many European countries.
  • The reinstatement of the framework of free collective bargaining, as in force before the infamous PSP 6/2012, the crown of the Mnemonic legislation. “

“The government with the proposed arrangements for arrangement of working time shows that it is not interested in the balance of professional and personal life, health and safety in the workplace. At the same time, assigning the settlement of working time to the state-of-the-art state ignores social dialogue, deliberately weakens free collective bargaining and serves very specific employer interests.

Greek employees who are already working more hours a year than all of their colleagues in the EU, who are overwhelming rates of labor exhaustion and stress, are now facing a dystopia. It is enough. We can’t stand it anymore, “GSEE stresses, noting:” Working time is not a commodity, it is our life! “
