Papua New Guinea: Strong earthquake 6 Richter has upset the island – No reports of victims

The inhabitants of the residents lived today (16.09.2025) Papua New Guinea, when they were shaken by earthquake 6 Richter size.

The earthquake occurred off the coast of New Ireland, one of the largest islands of the Archipelago Bismarck in Papua New Guinea, according to the German Geosciences Research Center (GFZ), the Euro -Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) and the US Institute.

The epicenter of the earthquake lies about 207 kilometers southeast of the city of Kokopo and the focal depth is estimated at 78 kilometers.

So far there are no reports of victims or significant material damage.
