Alarm in Poland after a drone threat – fighters took off and closed Lublin Airport

Sirens sounded in the east Poland Saturday afternoon (13.09.2025), as authorities declared alarm status in an area bordering with Ukraineafter finding a possible threat by a drone, allegedly of Russian origin.

According to first information reported by local media and the Washington Post newspaper, Polish fighter jets took off to intercept or attend the unknown flying object at the Poland -Ukraine border.

At the same time, Lublin Airport was forced to interrupt its operation, while warning sirens were heard in several areas of the district. Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk also announced that the country’s anti -aircraft defense was in a state of high alarm.

This incident occurred in a period of intense military tension in Eastern Europe, as Poland has already greatly strengthened its anti -aircraft defense since the start of the war in Ukraine.
