OR National Basketball appeared inferior to the circumstances in the Eurobasket semifinals with Turkeyknowing a heavy defeat (94-68) with the hands of the well-groomed set of Ergkin Ataman.
National Greece basketball made a tragic appearance in defense and attack, resulting in unconditional subordinate to the Turks’ appetites.
The blue -white has never been able to get into the mood of the race, essentially losing the game from the first minutes….
Turkey was known to have a better quality roster than Greece with more solutions in all positions, but not even the most pessimistic friend of National Greece could imagine this crash in a historic struggle.
The trapped John Antetokounbos
Giannis Antetokounbos has made his worst appearance with the National Greece jersey in recent years, failing to substantially help the blue whites.
The Greek superstar was trapped in the extremely well -established Turkish defense, which not only did not let him score, but with the traps he set up, cut off his creation.
The Turks played one defense of three against one, as Spain did, only Ergkin Ataman appeared even more read, essentially making Yiannis Antetokounbos out of the struggle and scoring view and in terms of creation.
With just 12 points and 12 rebounds, Yiannis Antetokounbos made his most earthly appearance in the tournament.
One mistake after another
As most noticed, the semifinals between Greece and Turkey had ended in the first half, not to mention the beginning of the second quarter.
The blue whites were spiritually unprepared, reaching the point of doing 12 errors (!) In the first half.
Overall it reached the 22. This is a huge number that leads you with mathematically accuracy in the crash.
Mistakes, of course, are the product of the pressure that the Turkish opposing guards exerted in the blue -white region.
Ergkin Ataman, the “fox” of benches
Turkey has an excellent roster, but it also has an excellent coach on the bench, perhaps the best in Europe.
This is the coach of Panathinaikos, Ergkin Ataman, who was highly read and was a winner in the bench battle with Vassilis Spanoulis.
The Turkish coach and his team have read the way in the way of the National Greece and revealed all our weaknesses.
In addition to ending all the spaces in Yiannis Antetokounbos, Ergkin Ataman made sure to read the defensive weaknesses of the Greek superstar.
The Turkish technician knew that Yiannis Antetokounbos is hard to get out of the painter, resulting in Osmani, who is a terrible shooter, to go out to the periphery and party behind the line of the tripod.
“Aggressively, we used our Power Forward, Osmani, because John stays in the racket. Osmani put the first shot, gained confidence and put the next one,” Ergkin Ataman explained at a press conference.
The Turkish coach knows Kostas Sloukas better than anyone, since he has a player in Panathinaikos, so he made sure to cut him as much as he could.
The Greek guard went well aggressively, scoring 15 points that did not hurt Turkey, which had a clear goal to push him and not let him organize the game of National Greece.
More generally, the Turks knew the sluggish in the “1” and pushed our regional, leading them to many effortless mistakes.
As such, Turkey entered the parquet very loudly, took psychology, escaped with two -digit differences and never looked behind it again, revealing all the weaknesses of the Greek team.
