A migrant lost his life in Chicagoafter a shot received by a federal agent of the Image and Customs Service (ICE) on Friday 12.09.2025.
The incident happened in a suburb of Chicago after resisting the arrest and dragged the police officer by car, according to the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Silverio Vileas-Gonzales, as the man was called, was an immigrant without documents, as the DHS announced. The agent, whose name was not immediately released, suffered serious injuries but is being hospitalized in a stable condition, a ministry official told CNN.
The incident occurred in Franklin Park, about 30 kilometers west of the center of Chicago. According to authorities, Vileas-Gonzalez attempted to embrace the police with his vehicle, hitting one of them and dragging him “for a long distance”.

Deputy Minister of Internal Security, Tricia McLaughlin, said: “We pray for the rapid recovery of our police officer. He acted in his education, he made use of the necessary repression force and applied the law on the protection of the public and his colleagues. “
At the same time, he accused social media and activists who, he said, “encourage irregular immigrants to resist the authorities”, arguing that it “dispersed misinformation and undermines public security”.
