During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday (09–10.09.2025), the Poland rejected Russian drones flying over its territory. The Polish Ministry of the Interior announced that 7 drones were identified and rocket wreckage of unknown origin. It is the first time that the official reference to the rocket entry into the Polish airspace has been officially mentioned.
Earlier in the day, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk had stated that his country will ask for officially activating Article 4 of NATOafter the invasion of the Russian drones. This article allows Member States to immediately consult with their allies when they consider that security is threatened, territorial integrity or their political independence.
According to the Polish Armed Forces, 19 drones violated the country’s airspace on the night of September 9, during a Russian attack on Western Ukraine. Three to four of them were overthrown, but the debris caused material damage to homes.
