In the signature of the contract for the work of the new high -voltage cable interconnection between Corfu and Igoumenitsa is proceeding ADME. In the context of the bidding process announced by the manager and attracted the interest of companies from Greece, Italy and China, Fulgor SA was the contractor of the project. for € 61.19 million.
This is the third interconnection of the island with the continental electricity transport system, which will further enhance Corfu’s safe electricity in all operational conditions, with a direct impact on the quality of life of its inhabitants. At the same time, the technical competence and reliability of the electrical system in the wider area of Epirus are essentially enhanced.
The interconnection includes a 150 kV cable high voltage, with 17 km underwater and 4 km underground, as well as incorporation of fiber optic throughout. The completion of the work is provided for within 24 months of the signing of the contract.
The project is part of the investments implemented by ADMIE to upgrade electrical interconnections in the Ionian Islands, with the aim of shielding their smooth energy supply. Following the upgrading of the Kyllini-Zakynthos interconnection, work is also proceeding for the interconnections of Zakynthos-Kefalonia and Kefalonia-Lefkada, with completion horizon in 2026.
