Spanakis: New Self -Government Code and financial support for the Region

The basic measures announced at the TIF, the Deputy Minister of Interior reported Vassilis Spanakis Speaking to ERTnews, focusing on their social character and impact on the islands, the islands and the mountain villages.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister pointed out the interior ministry’s attempt to upgrade the public administration through the new Code of Self -Government, which simplifies the responsibilities of municipalities and regions, reduces bureaucracy and facilitates citizens and businesses.

Particular reference was made to the Special Registry, with the aim of simplifying procedures for Greeks abroad and registering children born or adopted before 1976 in Greek registrations. This upgrade will allow the elaboration of marriages, baptisms, deaths and divorces faster and will facilitate citizens and lawyers in the necessary procedures.

New electoral system for municipalities and regions

The new Code of Self -Government has foresees the election of local nobles from the first Sunday. According to Mr Spanakis, this measure aims to save money and reduce abstention.

As he explained, if neither of the first two candidates reach the limit (eg 40%), the second options are counted to determine the winner.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that these measures are part of a comprehensive strategy to support the Greek region and strengthen the daily lives of citizens, with the aim of developing, reducing bureaucracy and social cohesion.
