In the presentation for the Artificial intelligence to Education In the context of Thessaloniki International Exhibitionin the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, “hostess” was the Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Sofia Zacharakis.
In her presentation, the minister spoke of the way the new technologies They shape the codes of communication, work and learning. As he said, this is a one realitywhich we already live in and does not concern any challenge of the future.
So public schools, as well as the universities They have entered the orbit of artificial intelligence and have harmonized with central government policy to prepare the new generation for what tomorrow brings.
Typical examples, the thousands interactive boards and robotics kit found in thousands of classes, both “tools” that are available to teachers and students to facilitate the process of learning.
To this end, teachers have been trained and continue to be trained, now focusing on the advent of artificial intelligence and how it will be integrated into the classroom.
With the cooperation of Institute of Educational Policy, Partnerships have been launched with the moral dimension of TN, opening the dialogue with both teachers and academics from Greece and abroad.
Among other things, in this direction, organized festival with Onassis Foundation, UNESCO and EU drivers were developed, while at the same time supporting the first students’ competition on artificial intelligence, in which Greeks were distinguished. Her lesson Computer science is built up on the artificial intelligence, Educational tools are based on the AI, established nationwide innovation centers, the new technology for school vocational guidance is used.
Above all, however, the Minister Mr. Zacharakis stressed that the aim is to cultivate the critical thinking of the students, who are reinforced through the personalized learning offered by artificial intelligence. At the same time, teachers are technologically ‘shielded’ to be able to guide children in the world of artificial intelligence responsibly.
The speech of Mrs Zacharakis
“Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, dear colleagues, artificial intelligence is not another ‘planet’ in which we will live in the future. It is the “planet” on which we are already “inhabiting”, defining new codes of communication, work and learning.
Today, at this great event, we are talking about the jump in “tomorrow” – a jump already in our public school and university. With a look at the future, the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, over the last six years, has followed a strategic course so that the younger generation will prepare for what is coming. What does this mean in practice? Thousands of interactive paintings and robotics kits entered the classroom, two of the first projects of the Recovery Fund to be almost completed. Teachers had the opportunity to train in new technologies, and within the following month, the focused training of all teachers begins to utilize these means, with the integration of artificial intelligence issues by utilizing yet another project of the Recovery Fund.
With the support of the Institute of Educational Policy, we proceeded with strategic partnerships and synergies: We have carried out days of dialogue with over 3,000 teachers for the ethical and pedagogical dimensions of TN with Greek academics from universities in Greece and abroad. We organized the AI Festival with the Onassis Foundation, which was open to students and teachers. We have trained hundreds of teachers in collaboration with Piraeus Bank and Tipping Point for the creative integration of TN in teaching. We translated and distributed UNESCO and EU drivers for the moral use of AI in education. We supported the first AI student competition, which gave boost to new lessons, summer schools and learning communities. Our students returned with 2 silver and 1 bronze medal.
At the same time, we have developed new IT textbooks with integrated literacy in TN. And we continue with large IT projects: We transform curricula and educational content into interactive digital environments, with thousands of open digital resources and teaching scenarios with TN. We create a digital assistant with artificial intelligence, adapting to the needs of every student and student. We develop 3D training tools for primary and secondary education. We establish 13 innovation centers across the country, with access to TN, mechanical learning and large data. We are developing a professional guidance platform with mechanical learning, for personalized educational and professional suggestions.
