In many areas, the severity of the vibration left behind only ruins. In Mazardara, one of the most affected villages, residents try to save the injured on their own, carrying them to improvised stretchers. Removal from the rest of the world, they express their despair: “Almost the whole village collapsed. The earthquake struck around midnight, children, older people and young people are still trapped under the debris. We need help to retrieve the bodies, “says one survivor.

The Taliban claims that they have made about forty flights to remove the injured and transport humanitarian aid. Afghanistan remains one of the countries more vulnerable to deadly earthquakes. In 2023, an earthquake in the province of Herat had caused the deaths of 1,500 people and the destruction of tens of thousands of houses.
