Turkey: “Tayfun Block 4 ultrasound ballistic missiles will enter 2026 on a mass line”

Recep Tayyip Erdogan envisions the Turkey Not only as a regional force but as a “player” with international influence and therefore invests in the development of advanced military equipment such as aircraft carriers, stealth fighter aircraft and ballistic missiles.

Indeed, ballistic missiles are an area in which Turkey is largely based, even making the famous Tayfun, with whom Erdogan has previously threatened our country because of their range and war heads.

The Turkish defense industry has managed to create various versions of Tayfun ballistic missiles, code -named Block 1 and Block 4, because they have different features and range.

In particular, Tayfun Block 1 are short -range ballistic missiles and Many have already been handed over to Turkish armed forceswhile BLOCK 4 will start testing by the end of 2025 and by 2026 their mass production will beginas revealed by the General Manager of the Turkish Manufacturer of Rketsan, Murat Ikintzi.

He characteristically stated that “in terms of Tayfun Block 4 ballistic missiles, we hope that it will soon be launched in 2025 and will enter mass production by 2026.”

It is noted that the new Block 4 configuration of Tayfun Turkish ballistic missiles was presented for the first time at the IDEF – 2025 defense and technology report held in Constantinople in late July 2025.

“That’s why we call him ultrasonic”

On the sidelines of this report, Rketsan’s general manager explained why they use the “ultrasonic” designation for Tayfun Block 4, saying:

«All ballistic missiles can actually reach speeds exceeding 5 Mach. The crucial point here is that the Tayfun Block 4 can develop speeds exceeding 5 Mach throughout their flight and hit their target at a speed of exceeding 5 Mach. From this point of view, they are considered ultrasonic ballistic missiles. “

He then emphasized: ‘Tayfun Block 1 is already in mass production and deliveries to Turkish Armed Forces are in progress».

It is recalled that in Block 4, the Turkish ballistic rocket weighs 7,200 kg and is 10 meters longwhile it is estimated that It has a range of more than 1,000 kilometers so it is part of the class of medium -range ballistic missiles (MRBM).

On the contrary, the Block 1 version is part of the category of short -range ballistic missiles (SRBM) with a range of 300 to 1,000 kilometers.
