Meeting under the Deputy Prime Minister with Members, Regional Governor and Mayors of Central Macedonia

In response to specific issues raised by the mayors of Central Macedonia:
– To reform in town planningMr. Hatzidakis stressed that “the government is preparing a comprehensive solution, on which municipalities will maintain those responsibilities that have indeed added value to them, such as planning and local urban planning. At the same time, a modern, transparent and effective control mechanism will be created, utilizing new technologies, so that citizens will eventually be more pleased with us and with you. “
– For the national water plan and the treatment of water scarcitythe Vice -President of the Government, after first making it clear that the water is and will remain a public and affordable good, noted: “Despite the works that have been done all the last few years, we cannot remain inactive. We need to address the issue holistically, with a modern design and economical scale. It would be a myopic perception of the government if it ignored all this and waited for the height of consoles. It is clear that a more coordinated effort must be made, which will accelerate investment and ensure economies of scale in its execution. “
– For the current process of submitting farmers’ reinforcement applications to OPEKEPEMr Hatzidakis stressed that, according to a recent document by the European Commission to the Government, without the declaration of the property number (ATAK) no payment of aid can be made. The extension that was decided to be given by September 30 relates solely to the completion of the ATAK in the applications, which will have been submitted by August 29th.
– For the “Marietta Giannakou” programthe Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the government would consider ways to strengthen the role of municipalities in it, while stressing that more specific announcements on the same program will soon be made by the government.
– For the western suburban of ThessalonikiMr. Hatzidakis acknowledged that “this is a necessary project, which we owe to western Thessaloniki. So to proceed with such a project, which will be prioritized by the government. ” And he added that today at the Prime Minister’s meetings with the productive bodies the issue will be discussed more in detail.
