Papathanassis: In the NSRF the training programs of 2,420 unemployed seafarers

The NSRF program “Human Resources and Social Cohesion 2025 – 2026” are included by decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanassis training programs unemployed navy To provide professional certification, a total public expenditure of EUR 3,500,000.

Participants are planned to pay an educational allowance as aid during their attendance. Whereas, during the implementation of the training program, no insurance is required by another insurance institution, as they enjoy full insurance coverage by the Naval House.

Training programs are implemented in the form of repetitive cycles on the basis of training standards established under the International Convention of STCW ’78 and lead, if the other conditions of the current legislation are fulfilled, in the certification of the knowledge of these trainees in the acquisition of Navy.

Training programs are projected to benefit 2,420 unemployed seafarers, who are outside the ship, who, depending on their specialty and training, will be able to update and improve their knowledge, reintegrate into the labor market, and lift the next hierarchy.

The training programs are implemented in the Public Merchant Marine Schools, namely:

  • At the Center for Training Merchants of Merchant Naval Master-Engineers/PM Rentis based in Ag. Ioannis Rentis and KESEN/M-Macedonia based in Nea Michaniona Thessaloniki. The training achieves the appropriate preparation of the candidates for the acquisition of the Merchants of Merchants – Merchants of Merchants (EN) as well as the retraining of diplomas of Masters – Engineers to provide special and complementary knowledge.
  • At the Training Center for Merchant Naval Radio electronics-Radio (KESEN/RH-RE), based in Aspropyrgoswhere the necessary vocational training – training to seafarers are provided in order to obtain the necessary professional rights in terms of ships (GMDSS), adapted to modern technological developments of their specialty.
  • In the Special Departments of AEN Masters-Engineers 2nd-3rd Class and Electricians EN, based in the facilities of AENwhere they operate in the form of repetitive cycles, training programs for unemployed seafarers of the Captain-Engineers and the 2nd Class and Electricians EN. as well as rulers who are not derived from Higher Production Schools of Initial Naval Vocational Training (AEN), in the following form: (i) Special Department of Second Class and Governors and Governors, (ii) Special Department of Engineering B- 3rd grade and (iii). For graduates of HEI – TEI and graduates EPAL – SAEK (former IEK)
  • At the Public School of Merchant Naval Training of Yalamipoli (DSEN/MET), based in Ag. John Rentiswhere vocational training is provided to seafarers, after two years of total maritime service. After their successful graduation, students and after completing a three -year maritime service receive the 1st grade of EN.

The beneficiary of the act is the Ministry of Maritime and Island Policy / Coast Guard Headquarters – Greek Coast Guard.
