Extension took Turkey and Slovakia from USA that will last until May and allow them to pay payments gas in Russia, according to Reuters.
In November (2024), the US had imposed new sanctions due to the conflict in Ukraine in Russian Gazprombank, one of the country’s largest banks, which receives Gazprom’s gas customers in Europe. Turkey, along with Hungary and Slovakia, was eliminated by US sanctions in December, resulting in a significant obstacle to the payment of natural gas received from Russia through the Turkstream gas pipeline.
The Turkish Ministry of Energy refused to comment, while the Turkish Ministry of Finance and the Slovak Ministry of Economy did not immediately respond to commentary requests. Hungary had not commented on the extension of the derogation until these lines were written.

When Ukraine stopped transit Russian gas to Europe at the end of last year, Slovakia had to be based on supplies from Hungary, but the company SPP, which is the country’s main importer of gas, said in February that Gazpromi said.
