The successful example of Cyprus has as a guide to RIS For investigations hydrocarbon in Peloponnese and Crete, as evidenced by yesterday’s statements by Minister Stavros Papastavrou.
He told SKAI that Turkish reactions were very strong when Cyprus conducted its own hydrocarbons in the previous decade. However, the RIS estimates that oils care above all about the commercial exploitable stocks, so Nicosia was able to successfully complete its program.
By extension, Mr Papastavrou’s message is that if the oils are found in our competition and then natural gas is found on Greek plots, the whole project will be successful regardless of Turkish reactions. It should be noted that the completion of the competition is approaching, as the ministry will have any bids on September 10.
In any case, the RIS stresses that Greece responds to Turkish aspirations and the Turkolibyan memorandum with actions, such as the international competition, but also the maritime parks and marine planning. The above is now the operation of the vertical corridor that supplies US gas to the north of our own, limiting their dependence on Russia.
This is something that is of great importance to the US, while Mr Papastavrou recalled that US Minister of Energy Minister Chris Wright will be visited in November, which would discuss all bilateral issues of energy interest.
At the same time, the presence of the two largest American oils, ExxonMobil and Chevron, is important paper against any illegal claims in the EEZ. The know -how of these two groups at the same time guarantees that any research drilling will be carried out by the maximum chances of success.
It should be noted, however, that even so, each drilling has a chance of up to 20-25% to find outstanding amounts of hydrocarbons based on international practice. By extension, the success of the Greek effort should not be discounted and determined above all by the geological factor. After all, in Cyprus there were fruitless drilling for every successful discovery.
