Explosive increase in prices of lamb, goat and calf

Out of control, the prices of lamb, goat and calf are especially out of control over the last month. According to Newsit.gr sources from the market meatthe price Lamb and kid has increased by 20% compared to last year, with the main reason being found in the fact that 350,000 sheep and goats have been killed by last year to this year. The price of sheep and goat meat currently stands at 15-17 euros/kg.

The killing of hundreds of thousands of sheep and goats has led to a reduction in meat supply and thus its price increase. The same sources do not exclude a further increase in price as all the slaughterhouses of Thessaly and Evros are closed due to the blessing that affects these livestock areas at this time.

At the same time, the price of veal has increased only in the last 30 days by 10% – 15%, and has increased by 20% compared to last year, with its price even in the supermarket to 17 or even 20 euros per kilo.

The main reason for ejecting the price of veal is the reduction of producers, especially in Europe, from which the overwhelmingly large volume of supply in Greece comes from.

As far as pork is concerned, it has grown very slightly.
