Today, Friday (22.08.2025), elevated temperatures are expected to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, mainly on the eastern continents, while locally it may reach all 42 ° C, especially in areas such as Fthiotida, Boeotia, Attica, Argolida. Since Saturday, however, the last heat wave for this summer is expected to appeal.
However, the weather is differentiated in some areas. Strong phenomena are predicted by noon in the northern Ionian, mainly around Corfu, Paxos and Diapontia islands, as well as in the coastal zones of Epirus, where thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected, according to the NMS.
Meteorologist Dimitris Ziakopoulos mentions the presence of a barometric low in the northern Adriatic, which, accompanied by a cold front extending to Tunisia, moves northeast.
This system is expected to cause local rains and thunderstorms in areas of western and northwestern Greece, western Thessaly and centralized Macedonia. Particularly in the northern Ionian Sea and the coasts of Epirus, the phenomena will be intensified.

Prognosis for today Friday (22/08)
To the west and north a few clouds transiently increased with sporadic rains and thunderstorms in vigorously intense until noon, in northern Ionian (Corfu -Diapontian Islands -Paxon) and the coastal areas of Epirus. Local rainstorms will occur during the afternoon – afternoon.

The temperature will drop and reach the west and northern continents 32 to 34 and the rest of their continents 35 to 37 degrees Celsius. In the eastern Aegean islands and Crete, it will reach 35 degrees while in the rest of the island country it will not exceed 29 to 31 degrees Celsius.
