Penalties for NGOs to appeal to justice are planned by the Ministry of Immigration

Imposing penalties on non -governmental organizations that challenge the policy of the Ministry of Immigration Thanos Plevris designs, according to information cited by “Kathimerini”.

According to the same information, the Minister of Immigration is preparing to bring legislation, which will delete from the National Register of NGOs the organizations that will be legally moved against decisions providing for administrative deductions and asylum suspension.

The deletion of an NGO from the registers will mean a ban on its access to the hosting and detention structures of immigrants.

Speaking on Sky Radio, Migration Policy Secretary Manos Logothetis said that “those NGOs have the right to be funded must seek not to expose the country, to maintain the spirit of cooperation, and will evaluate their attitude”.

The filing of a relevant bill is expected to open up the debate that this targeting of the appeal to the Court is in line with the Constitution, and in particular with the right to use legal remedies for the protection of rights and interests, as well as by controlling the legality of the Government’s acts.

The Minister of Immigration, Thanos Plevris had announced yesterday and management control over NGOs, arguing that “migration policy is not decided by courts or NGOs”.
