Dromeus Capital – APTO: The new Mega Project in Spata
Until October 7th, the Environmental Impact Study for the new Data Center designed by Dromeus Capital, in collaboration with APTO, a new but particularly dynamic Data Centers provider in Europe, will be in public. The investment of € 300 million provides for the development of two two -storey buildings, which will include data rooms, a state -of -the -art 80 MVA substation, as well as auxiliary facilities. The first phase of the project is expected to be ready in the fall of 2026.
In addition to enhancing digital infrastructure, investment promises new jobs both in construction and operation, stimulating the local economy through partnerships and supplies, as well as digital skills development programs for residents of East Attica. The strategic location, next to Athens International Airport and international telecommunications corridors, makes the area an important technological hub.
Data in Scale – PPC and Damac: The Alliance of Greece – UAE
At the same time, the work is on the construction of another large data center in Spata. This is the work of Data in Scale, the consortium set up by PPC and Edgnex Data Centers, a subsidiary of the DAMAC Group from the United Arab Emirates. The data center is growing on a 32 -acre property and has already entered the foundation phase, with Ten Brinke and Tentec undertaking the implementation.
The completion of the project is set at the end of 2026, with investors report that another strong partner is expected to participate in the figure, whose name has not yet been revealed. It is worth noting that this property was initially intended for commercial uses, but the change of cruise marks the shift of large groups to the development of strategic digital infrastructure.
Data4-Hermes-B: The French entrance to Paiania
Its own dynamic presence in the Greek market is brought by the French Data4, which develops the Hermes-B project in Peania. The total investment is 300 million euros, with the ability to reach 500 million in the second phase. The project extends to one of the largest available areas in the area, over 75,000 square meters, and includes three data centers totaling 90 MW. The completion horizon is placed between the end of 2026 and the early 2027, and during the development period it will employ more than 500 employees, enhancing the local labor market.
Microsoft: The cluster in East Attica
Microsoft, which has already announced the installation of three data centers in Greece, is proceeding with the project Ath04 in the Spata – Artemis area. The project is part of the Investment in Data Centers in Greece investment plan and will be developed in the Petra Petra – Vouli – Vouliis Business Park.
The new data center will include two sections with a total power of 19.2 MW it, while the total power supply will reach 25 MW. Microsoft thus develops a single cluster in East Attica, which will be the core of its cloud services in the country and the wider region.
Google: Greek Cloud Region
Even more ambitious are Google’s plans, which has announced the creation of three data centers in Greece that will host the Greek Cloud Region. The investment is estimated to bring 2.2 billion euros to the Greek economy by 2030, and will create 19,400 new jobs. This move confirms the country’s strategic role, as well as the confidence shown by major international groups in its digital future.
Lancom: The Greek player with international ambition
In this landscape, Lancom stands out as the only purely Greek company that manages to stand against international giants. The company is rapidly expanding its activity, investing in completing the Balkan Gate in Thessaloniki, as well as the development of a new data center in Crete.
According to the administration, the aim is for the Balkan Gate to become a key data hub in the Balkans, questioning the sovereignty that Sofia holds to date. Thus, Lancom seeks to make Thessaloniki and Crete reference points on the map of the region’s digital economy.
The above investments, which are expected to be implemented primarily by 2026-2027, give Greece a unique opportunity to establish itself as a strategic database in Southeast Europe. These are not only projects that enhance digital infrastructure and upgrade telecommunications, but a comprehensive remodeling of the economy.
