A drone landed overnight Tuesday (19/8/2025) in corn field in east Poland and seems to be a Russian version of the Iranian drone Shahad. This exploded and fell into a field in the village of Osini in the eastern province of Lublin.
The drone that fell into the village in Eastern Poland did not bring an explosive head, but contained only a small amount of explosives and looked more like bait, the PAP news agency quoted a source at the Ministry of Defense.
Poland has been on a state of high alert for objects entering its airspace since a Ukrainian rocket hit the southern Polish village in Southern Poland in 2022, killing two people.
“The explosion examination shows that … the subject is probably a military unmanned aircraft,” Lublin’s regional prosecutor Gregorz Truisjevic told reporters.
Police had earlier announced that an unknown object fell into a field in the village of Osini in the eastern province of Lublin, just over 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and about 90 kilometers from Belarus.

Polish government vice president and defense minister Vaudislav Kosiniak-Kamis confirmed that the drone that fell to Poland at night is now believed that the drone that fell in Poland at night is now considered to come from Russia.
“Russia is once again provoking NATO countries, after incidents with drones in Romania, Lithuania and Latvia,” he said.

“This is happening at a particularly critical moment when discussions on peace are in progress. It is happening at a time when there is hope that the war launched by Russia, a war against the Ukrainian state, but also a war that threatens the security of NATO countries, has a chance to end. “
