The Turkish Foreign Ministry rejects’ as unfounded claims regarding Turkey included in the Human Rights Report of 2024 »published by the State Department.
In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Minister attacks the State Department and argues that Turkey “successfully fights all forms and manifestations of terrorism in the context of the rule of law and fundamental rights and freedoms”.
He also claims that the categories included in the report in this context are far from reality.
“We are also deeply sorry for the inclusion in the exposure of unfounded and non -existent allegations promoted through the FETO terrorist rhetoric,” notes the Turkish response to the US Foreign Ministry regarding the Network of Fetchelah Gulen and the USA of the USA, Mind of the 2016 coup attempt.
Regarding the Turkish military operations in northern Syria against the Kurdish forces, the same announcement states: “Turkey’s anti -terrorist operations in Syria are being carried out on the basis of self -defense rights and with the utmost care for the civilian population and infrastructure. Finally, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejects US categories regarding refugees and immigrants:
“Having welcomed millions of refugees for years and meeting their basic needs, Turkey is an exemplary state with an integrated and sustainable migration management policy on the global level, based on human dignity.”
The report by the United States Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the state of human rights in Turkey is described as a “lost year” in 2024 in terms of freedom of the press. According to the report, pressures and censorship practices against journalists have increased significantly.
He notes that justice is under the influence of the executive and that this situation undermines democratic functioning.
He points out that activists, academics and human rights defenders face legal persecution, investigations and unfair penalties. In addition, the report states that there have been cases of arbitrary arrests, torture and “transnational repression” against journalists, dissidents, refugees and members of the Gulen organization.
It also highlights a violation of refugee and immigrant rights, such as refugee abuse, overcrowded detention centers and forced returns without the consent of those concerned.
