A tragic death was found by a photographer and photojournalist on Friday afternoon (08.08.2025) after car accident to Egnatia.

The 55 -year -old Yiannis Dimitras was driving his car on the highway, having his 38 -year -old wife, who is in critical condition at the Ioannina University Hospital in intensive care unit after the traffic accident.

The 55 -year -old car turned off his course and hit the Egnatia Road protective railings, just before the toll in Tyria. Both passengers of the vehicle were trapped in a fierce collision.

The release of both of the fire department, which mobilized four vehicles, were required to unleash both vehicles.

The alternative cultural workshop, via social media, has publicly appealed for blood to support the 38 -year -old Margarita Samoyl, which is fighting for life.

The Corfu professional photographer Association, in its announcement, expressed deeply sadness over the death of Yiannis Dimitras, conveying the condolences to all his members to his family.

Giannis Dimitras was born in Athens in 1970 and, after his studies at the Eugenia Hatzikou Film School, in the Department of Photography, he settled permanently in Corfu, where he was professionally active.

He has been a correspondent from the Athens News Agency for eight years and since 2005 he was a member of the Hellenic Photojournalist Union. He has collaborated with magazines, newspapers and museums, and worked as a photographer in major film productions.
