In their response to the public reference of the SYRIZA MP – Progressive Alliance, Elena Akrita, the Democracy Movement and the MP of Thessaloniki, Michalis Hourdakis, initially stated that the MP would not be saved.
According to the announcement, it was argued that Mrs Akrita, being heavily exposed and hopelessly due to her intolerance to the right to criticize, resorted to the tactics of creating and targeting an “external enemy” for internal concentration. Mr. Hourdakis said she was targeted by her because she was annoyed by the fact that she defended, both personally and as a spokesman for the Democracy Movement, journalist Angelos Prokolisiano against, as they were described, a vulgar attack.
It was also emphasized that freedom of the press is not selective. They pointed out that this freedom is not only “progressive” when it suits them, but it is a foundation of democracy with no exceptions. They added that the resume she posted on Vouliwatch does not constitute a bulletproof vest, nor does she give her permission to attack without political arguments, with insults and lies.
They then stated that in the Democracy Movement they chose political culture, arguments and respect, which, in their view, Mrs Akrita seems to have forgotten, as her choices prove.
The announcement continues with a call and a legal warning, where Mr. Hourdakis called on Mrs Akrita to immediately recall the false and defamatory characterizations against him. She warned that, otherwise, she would turn legal against her, expressing hope that she would not hide behind her parliamentary immunity. Finally, they commented that the “Polaki” tactic, that is, throwing mud and then hiding behind the seat, is not a political courage but a political cowardice.
In the first postwar, Mr. Hourdakis wonders whether Mrs Akrita perceives as a homophobic perception that he consciously chose to politically join Stefanos Kasselakis and joining the Democracy Movement.
In the second post, the announcement concludes with the phrase that the left is a way of life and not a way to live.
