Support of EUR 63 million to breeders due to incarceration and zoos, up to 14 euros per animal

The granting of a reinforcement of minimis of up to EUR 63 million to the country’s sheep and goats due to incarceration animalas a consequence of zoonoses, and increased costs animal feedThe JMD signed by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Costas Tsiaras and the Deputy Minister of Finance, Athanasios Petralias.

The decision concerns producers who maintain sheep and goats and comes to cover the effects of increasing the cost of feed, caused by the exacerbation of zoonoses (such as the small ruminant plague and smallpox), as well as by the restriction of movements imposed 2024 and 2025.

Beneficiaries of the aid are producers who have delivered milk to manufacturing units in 2024, have completed the livestock census process to the Integrated Veterinary Information System (OSK) and have filed a single application for aid (UAE) for the same year. Exceptionally, for islands where no manufacturing units operate, it is possible to boost even without milk delivery, provided the census and the UAE.

The aid concerns adult female sheep and goats and its height is formed per regional unit, with three distinct categories:

  1. Amount of aid 4 euros per animal In the following regional units: East Attica, Argolida, Arcadia, Arta, Achaia (except Dim. Central Sector of Athens, Corfu, Kefallinia, Kilkis, Kozani, Kos, Laconia, Lassithi, Lefkada, Messinia, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Islands, Paros, Pella, Preveza, Rethymnon, Rhodes, Rhodes, Rhodes, Rhodes, Rhodes, Rhodes Municipalities of Volvi and Lagada), Boeotia and Fthiotida
  2. Amount of aid 6 euros per animal The following regional units: Andros, Drama, West Attica, Heraklion, Serres, Evia, Corinthia, Lesvos, Limnos, Thassos, Thessaloniki (Municipalities of Volvi and Lagada), Pieria and Florina
  3. Amount of aid 14 euros per animal The following regional units: Aitoloakarnania, Achaia – Municipality of Kalavryta, Evros, Ilias, Kavala, Karditsa, Larissa, Magnesia, Xanthi, Rodopi, Trikala, Fokida and Halkidiki.

It is noted that OPECEPE, who carries out the necessary administrative and computer inspections, informs the beneficiaries of the amount appropriate to them and issues the relevant payment orders.

The Minister of Rural Development and Food, Costas Tsiaras, said: “We had pledged to support the breeders affected by the consequences of zoonoses and the increased cost of feed. Today, with the activation of up to € 63 million, we are making this commitment. We breathe to the people of production and enhance the durability of the primary sector, which is the foundation of the national economy and regional development. We continue with plan, consistency and determination. ”

Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, Christos Kellas said: “With 63m euros we support sheep and goats that have been tested hard by zoonoses and breeding restrictions. The prediction of up to € 14 per animal is a powerful signal of political will and reinforcement of affected farmers. ”
