In an interview with the newspaper “First THEMA”, the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis He categorically rejected the possibility of early elections, stating that he would claim a third term, with the polls set up in the spring of 2027. At the same time, he expressed his desire for autonomy.
Mr Mitsotakis admits the phenomena of government deterioration, which, he explains, are due to the fact that the government is now in its seventh year. However, he stresses that this acts as an incentive to try harder and run faster. He asks citizens to judge him at the end of four years on the basis of whether he has kept his promises and what he plans for the future.
Referring to the OPECEPE case, the prime minister states that the government will take the money back, at least from the “big fish”. At the same time, he addresses a message to the opposition, asking, “Can we talk, instead of looking at who we will put in prison?” Mr Mitsotakis notes that he often feels that he is “pushing a wall” in his efforts to consult with PASOK and the other parties.
On a personal level, the prime minister makes it clear that he will never accept any accusation for his moral integrity. “My wife and my children are my biggest supporters and my strictest judges,” he says. He also shares a more humane aspect of himself, saying that he likes to write on his own, but he is “spelling” and finds it difficult to identify his mistakes.
