After a two -year continuous retreat, the Apple announced the first sales increase in its market Chinastating that new Mac computers and demand from mobile customers inhabited in cities have contributed to recovery.
Specifically, in the second quarter of 2025 Apple’s revenue from China increased by 4.4%, reaching $ 15.4 billion, according to the company, surpassing Wall Street’s average estimation for $ 15.2 billion.
These results were followed by seven consecutive quarters of sales reduction in the Chinese market, which once was a reliable driving force for Apple.
It is noted that consumers massively bought MacBook Air, Mac Mini and MacBook Pro, contributing to a double -digit sales increase in China, according to Apple. In particular, the MacBook Air was the most sales laptop in the country, while the Mac Mini was the desktop model with the most sales, according to Tim Cook’s CEO at teleconference.
Apple’s iPhone, meanwhile, was the most sold product in China’s urban areas during the period, according to financial director Kevan Parekh, who cited data from the Worldpanel Research Company.
“State subsidies may have had some effect,” Cook said, adding: “Users who upgraded the iPhone to mainland China set a record for June’s quarter,” he said. “The iPhone had the top three models in the urban areas of China, which is great.”
According to IDC research company, Apple’s overall share of the Chinese mobile phone market has continued to decline in the last quarter. The company’s sales decreased by 1.3% during the period, although this was better than the total market decline by 4%.
However, Cook said other types of devices have attracted buyers in the last quarter. “If you look at the other products, Mac, iPad and watch, the majority of customers buying in mainland China were new users of the product,” he said. “So there are many positive elements.”
