Two worlds in Rhodes for Israeli tourist. The cruise ship “Crown Iris” with 660 passengers from Israel tied to the port of the island, where police and police forces gathered, while representatives of local authorities and bodies welcomed visitors.
The two completely different images unfolded in Rhodes on Monday (28.07.2025) on the occasion of the arrival of the cruise ship “Crown Iris”, which carried about 660 Israeli tourists to the island.
On the one hand, representatives of local authorities and bodies warmly welcomed visitors to the port, offering them traditional sweets and treats, in a symbolic welcome move, as rodiaki.gr reports.
The reception was attended by, among other things, the Mayor of Rhodes Alexandros Koliadis, the Deputy Regional Governor Apostolos Asprakis, as well as representatives of the island’s tourist and business world.

There they met with the master and the crew representatives of the cruise ship, and then the Mayor of Rhodes had discussions with the protesters outside the central entrance of the port.
Dozens of protesters rushed to the spot who held a protest condemning Israel’s military policy in the Gaza Strip.

MAT squads and Port forces were lined up in and out of the port to prevent possible tensions with tourists.

The protest resulted in 15 appeals, 8 of which were converted into arrests.

The detainees are accused – on a case -by -case basis – for violence against employees and violating the anti -racist law.

It is noteworthy that among the defendants was the former Municipal Councilor of Rhodes and a politician of Freedom Freedom, Evangelia Panai, who posted videos from her detention venue.
The implementation of the anti -racist law had already been announced by the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoid, in a relevant position after the similar incident in Syros. The minister had made it clear that those who were trying to prevent third -country nationals from entering Greece would be prosecuted.
