One of the most unusual and impressive moments of European football unfolded in Switzerlandduring the clash between Aarau and Belinzona, in the 2nd Challenge League.
The race was carried out in torrential rain, with the pitch turning into a swamp, making the game extremely difficult. However, Aarau managed to overturn the score and lead 3-1. However, in the 65th minute, the referee temporarily interrupted the match due to extreme weather conditions.
Then something unexpected happened: Dozens of Aarau friends stormed into the pitch holding brooms and improvised tools, in a desperate attempt to remove stagnant waters and prevent the final break from being stopped. With self -denial, the fans were trying to “dry” the stadium, hoping that the match would continue and their team would keep its important victory.
Despite the impressive – and rarely for European data – the mobilization of the fans, the referee eventually found the field inappropriate and decided to finally stop the match.
