The English club also announced today (26/7) a special memory event that includes a mosaic of fans and a minute’s silence in the face of Liverpool’s inaugural match for the season, against Bournemouth on August 15th. Thousands of flowers, scarves, banners and other tributes have been placed outside Anfield since Zota and his brother Andre Silva were killed in a traffic accident about three weeks ago.

As announced, all items have been stored, and the flowers will be composted and used on flower beds at all facilities of the club, including Anfield, the AXA training center and the Axa Melwood training center.

The rest of the objects will be recycled and used to create a permanent monumental sculpture that will be placed in the central part of Anfield.

Liverpool had already announced, after consulting with Zota’s family, that the number 20 jersey would withdraw to all levels of the club, including women’s teams and academy teams.

Fans can have “Diogo J. 20” printed in jerseys in the club’s stores, with profits going to the LFC Foundation, the official charity of the club. The Foundation is committed to creating a base football program in the name of Zota.
