The US President Donald Trump attacked again at Hamas stressing that he “did not want an agreement” but wanted to “die” after the failure of the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.
At the same time, Donald Trump said he was expected that now Israel is “finishing the job” with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“Hamas didn’t really want to conclude an agreement. I think they want to die. And it is very, very serious, “the US president told reporters before leaving the White House for Scotland.
“We got to a point where we would need to finish the job,” he said, stressing that the Palestinian organization did not want an agreement because they “know what will happen after taking the last hostages.”
“I had told you (…) that it would be very difficult for Hamas to conclude an agreement because it would lose its shield, its coverage,” she continued.
Of the 251 hostages abducted on October 7, 2023 from Hamas, 49 remain in Gaza but 27 are already considered dead.
Hamas accuses Whitkov
Hamas today accused US special envoy Steve Whitkov of “changing cruise” after he announced yesterday the failure of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel.
“The negative statements of US envoy Witten are in stark contrast to the framework in which the last round of negotiations took place – and he knows it very well,” said Bassem Naim, a Hamas Political Bureau official, in an interview with the French agency.
Naim accused Whitkov of “changing his mind”, explaining that a few days ago he described the conversations as “positive”.
“The mediators very positively accepted Hamas’ response, which they considered constructive and capable of leading to agreement, as he approached the proposal they had submitted on both sides.”
According to the spokesman, the latest talks would focus on the details of the Israeli army withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
He even argued that a “in principle agreement” had been found on an exchange of hostages with Palestinian prisoners.
Naim called on the American special envoy to “put pressure” on the Israeli government, which is not intended to reach a truce agreement, he said.
