Three people were injured by a forest firedue to which about 2,000 inhabitants of Delvin were removed from their outbreaks in the prefecture of Avlona in Albania, the city’s deputy mayor said.
“Three people suffered burns and suffocation,” Brunda Meleki said by phone at the Reuters agency.
As he said, six villages were evacuated. A church and 10 uninhabited houses were destroyed by flames.
A strong fire has broken out in the hilly areas near the village of Kopaçez, in the municipality of Delvinë, creating an emergency situation.

The intensity of the fire was cut in the afternoon, after two helicopters developed in the area to help the ground forces.
The Albanian Ministry of Defense also said that 60 troops were deployed to participate in extinguishing efforts.
