Two teenagers aged 15 and 16, who were connected to gangs, were sentenced to life imprisonment because they killed a 14 -year -old man by beating him with mackerels, within a bus to Britainlast January.
This bloody attack with Matsettes at noon, and even on a bus, as well as the victim’s mother’s deposition on her son’s relationship with street gangs, stepped up the public dialogue on the scourge of violent crimes with knives in Britain and “Aigli”.
Celian Bokasa, 14, was killed on January 7 in the Wulwich district of South London.
The two defendants were guilty of murder. Today, a judge sentenced them to life imprisonment, of which they will serve at least 15 years and 10 months.
“In this case, it is clear that your intention was to kill,” said Judge Mark Lakrrapht, expressing his sadness of “another irrational loss of a lifetime”.
He recalled that the two teenagers had adopted the “culture of gangs” and had already been convicted of possession of a knife in public.
One of the two was, however, recognized by the authorities as a “victim of modern slavery” and “exploitation”.
The second “grew up and was exploited by gangs from the age of 12,” he described.
A little earlier, Celian’s mother, Marie Bokasa, wondered “what could have happened to these boys to commit such a horrible, violent energy.”
“At least, my son rests in peace and these two boys will experience very difficult times,” he added.
Bocasa had told the British press that her own son was also involved in gangs, despite her efforts to remove him from these groups.
Last year, ten teenagers were killed in knive attacks in London. In 2023 the victims were even more, as they reached 18.
