The up -to -date government’s action plan for the second half of the year to be presented today at the Council of Ministers includes 25 large -scale reforms that will run on a semester horizon. They are reforms selected by economic, social and political criteria, corresponding from one to three to each ministry and will be implemented at a rate one a week. This was stated by the Vice President of the Government Kostis Hatzidakisin an interview today on SKAI radio and indicative of some of them: the National Plan for Water Management, the Reformation in Town Planning, the 25% reduction in bureaucratic weight for businesses, further steps to deal with tax evasion and green tourist units. Which means that tourism businesses will be classified not only by stars but also based on their environmental performance.
In relation to the reform for the water management Mr. Hatzidakis emphasized that today we have 739 bodies dealing with water supplyirrigation and drainage in the region, while in Athens and Thessaloniki, where it is under control, there is one body. “How would things be in Athens if each municipality had its own company? What is happening in Athens why not in the province? “He asked. “Every time there are reactions when reforms are made, because there are established perceptions and acquired interests. Referring to the OPEKEPE case, Mr Hatzidakis emphasized that regardless of the political responsibilities recognized by the government and the prime minister himself, it turns out that the issue had begun to be investigated and the cases went to justice and were heard long before the European prosecutor. “Beyond that,” he added, “the Inquiry Committee will operate. We said that we do not see criminal responsibilities but if unmistakable evidence comes, we should be politically stupid to go hide them because then the political problem for us would be even greater. “
The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the crisis should become an opportunity to change our mindset and open a new page in agricultural policy. “We must not only see the subsidies and compensation from ELGA.
