Green light in countermeasures of 93 billion euros today (24.7.2025) the European Union (EU), which will be implemented by August 7th if trade negotiations with USA They fail, European diplomats announced, and the Financial Times reports.
The EU has prepared and ratified the list of US products – from Burbon to cars and airplanes – which will impose duties if President Donald Trump is implementing 30% customs duties on European imports, as they have threatened to do so.
Europe is still hoping to find a solution after negotiations, but has drawn up a list of US products that will be imposed on August 7 in the event of a failure of talks, and in a first list that had already been adopted 21 billion euros.
The EU today has decided to merge these two lists, which include a large number of goods: soybeans, airplanes, cars, etc.
The negotiations continue and an agreement today seemed to be shaped by US customs duties reduced to 15% and many exceptions to the aeronautical or pharmaceutical sector.
It is recalled that the US president has already imposed a 50% duty on steel and aluminum, a 25% duty on cars and car spare parts, and a 10% basic duty that currently affects EU goods worth 370 billion euros, or 70% of the US total exports to the US.
