Israel examines Hamas’ response to a ceasefire proposal

His prime minister’s office Israel Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Thursday (24.07.2025) that the government has received the reply of the Palestinian Islamist Movement Hamas to Israel’s proposal to cease fire in its lane Gauze.

On Wednesday, Hamas had forwarded her response to a ceasefire proposal to Gaza, via mediators in Qatar, who handed her over to the Israeli negotiating team.

“The mediators conveyed Hamas’s response to the Israeli negotiating team, which is currently examining it,” a brief announcement from Netanyahu’s office said.

However, according to a report of the Times of Israelthis answer is far from being considered positive. According to anonymous sources in the Israeli newspaper, which are involved in the negotiations, Hamas allegedly raised new demands, diverging from the framework of an agreement accepted by Israel. The mediators – Qatar, Egypt and the United States – allegedly consider these requirements “unacceptable”.

The plan set on the table provides for a ceasefire in three phases, with a gradual release of hostages, withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and enhancing humanitarian aid. This framework is actively supported by Washington and aimed to pave the way for a long -term end of hostilities.

However, according to diplomatic sources, the new terms set by Hamas may delay or even prevent an agreement from reaching.

Meanwhile, the battles continue, mainly in the center and southern part of the Gaza Strip, while international pressure for a permanent ceasefire is exacerbated.
