The car industry Audi decided to cut 7,500 job By the end of 2029, in the context of a resolution program aimed at saving at least € 1 billion a year in the medium term.
Audi workers’ chairman, Gerg Slagbauer, said the side of employers had initially suggested the cut of 12,000 jobs and clarified that the cuts would not affect production while leading to bureaucracy. The first 6,000 seats will be abolished by 2027 and the rest by the end of 2029.
The company’s chief executive, Guerno Delner, assured, for his part, that there would be no redundancies by the end of 2033, but referred to a revision of the distribution of profits between employees. “Audi should become faster, more flexible and more effective and one is clear: this cannot be achieved without adjustments to the staff,” Mr Delner added.
According to its financial data, Audi is in times of crisis, as in 2024 its sales shrunk by 12% and 21% in Germany worldwide. As part of the recovery plan, the company intends to invest up to 8 billion euros in its plants within Germany, and will slow down the transition programs to electricity.
