The US Department of Defense announced today (21/07/2025) that she ordered 700 to retire marines that had been developed in Los Angeles the previous month.
The Marines had been developed in Los Angeles after the riots triggered by mass arrests of irregular migrants as part of operations ordered by President Donald Trump.
The decision was made a week after about half of the 4,000 members of the National Guard developed in Los Angeles.
“After restoring stability in Los Angeles, the minister ordered the withdrawal of the 700 Marines, whose presence sent a clear message: lawlessness will not be tolerated,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said.
Trump ordered in June the development of National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles, despite the opposition of California Governor Gavin Newsom, with the aim of suppressing the episodic demonstrations that followed the large -scale federal business companies.
It was a decision that triggered political tension in the US. The Pentagon defended the measure, praising the Marines.
“Their rapid reaction, their steadfast discipline and their unmistakable presence played a decisive role in restoring order and in defense of the rule of law,” Son Parnell said.
President Trump is increasingly focused on the armed forces to strengthen operations to combat illegal immigration.
The interior ministry announced in April the concession to the US army of about 440 square kilometers along the border with Mexico, with the aim of preventing irregular immigrants from entering the country.
