Under full control, after immediate mobilization of the fire brigade, the fire that broke out in the private hospital Metropolitan General in Holargos on Monday afternoon (21.7.25).
The fire reportedly broke out in the basement of the hospital and quickly expanded. As the Mayor of Holargos – Papagou told newsit.gr, Elias Apostolopoulosthere was a power outage in the hospital and from a problem created by the generators, the fire started.
Sources of the Fire Brigade report that the fire occurred by the boiler room. To extinguish it, 35 firefighters with 15 vehicles and two special vehicles were mobilized. As it became known by the Fire Brigade, the basement, the ground floor, the first, second and third floor of the clinic were evacuated and all people were removed in a safe place.





All patients and medical and nursing staff were removed from the hospital until the fire was under full control.


Patients who have been operated on or are not in a state to walk have been transported to the courtyard of the hospital outside the emergency. Those in rooms in the wing of the clinic that suffered fire were transported by ambulances to other private clinics of the same group.
