As expected, the National pole made a “walk” against Brazil. Greece prevailed 17-5 and spent the quarter-finals of the World Field Championships, where it will face Italy (20.07.2025, 11:00, Newsit.gr, ERT1).
The Men’s National Polo had no problem quickly leading Brazil (0-2) with the goals of Kalogeropoulos. Defensively, the blue -white did not have a particular problem with “Celeso”, but in the attack she missed opportunities to score, with “Celeso” more resistance. The score in the first eight minutes did not change.
Kalogeropoulos came in the first few minutes of the second period to increase the score (0-3) with a well-executed penalty, so that Argyropoulos-Kanakakis would talk afterwards and make it 0-4. The Men’s National Pole found a better pace, with Kakaris making it 0-5, Genneia followed and Halivopoulos set up 0-7 of the season, with a buzzer beater.
Brazil’s first goal in the match came at the start of the 3rd period, to follow a second, shortly after (2-7). The Genidounias came to cut the Brazilian series, with Argyropoulos-Kanakakis scoring 2-9. In her good eight minutes, “Celeso” also achieved a third goal, with Greece reaching the eleven goals (3-11) with Halivopoulos and Gila. Shortly before the end of the season, Brazil scored its 4th goal (4-11) with a penalty shoot-out, to get the cigar and “answer” for National (4-12).
With the qualification being – almost – judged, the match rolled at the same pace. Although she had a lost penalty with Gardika, Ethniki completed her “walk” against Brazil, dominating 17-5.
