Tragic death found on Tuesday afternoon (15.07.2025) in her hotel complex Rhodesa 57 -year -old guide Tourist bus, Patras of two children.
According to rodiaki.gr, the unfortunate driver collapsed while waiting to board tourists at the Rhodes Hotel – as the local site writes, he suffered a heart attack.
EKAB arrived very quickly but it was too late for the 57 -year -old.
In a statement issued by the President of the Labor Center Panagiotis Englezos, he states the following:
“With deep sadness and anger we were informed of the unjust loss of another colleague, a tour bus driver who suffered a stoppage at the time of his work as he was preparing to pick up tourists. We express our sincere condolences to the family and his relatives. This new tragic incident cannot be treated as a “accidental event”.
It is another proof of the conditions of pressure and exhaustion that tourism workers experience daily, especially in the “heart” of the season. From the first moment, the Rhodes Tourist Driving Association and the Labor Center have requested that all procedures provided for, as required by the law on labor accidents. The president of the tourist bus drivers’ union was present from the first moment, at this difficult time. Once again, we emphasize the glaring absence of a technical labor inspection on the island of Rhodes.
In a place with such high tourism and work activity, it is inconceivable that there is insufficient control mechanism to ensure the health and safety of workers. Employers must be checked for the conditions under which our colleagues work and the state must finally take on its responsibilities. As a Labor Center, we call on the relevant ministries to proceed immediately with the creation of the Technical Labor Inspectorate on our island. We will not allow the depreciation of employees’ lives in the name of profit to continue. How many lives will those responsible be moved? “
